El bote salvavidas marciano: Backups instantáneos para tu Mac.

El temor de perder todo lo que tenemos en el ordenador debido a un mal funcionamiento de los discos duros u otro fenómeno esta presente en cada uno de nosotros... No tiene porque ser así hay infinidad de programas para hacer seguros backups planificados de todo el contenido de tu PC o al menos del contenido crucial. Sin embargo hacer backups a veces da pereza...



¿Que hay si existiera una aplicación que de solo insertar tu memoria flash o el disco duro interno hiciera el backup del contenido crucial del ordenador y lo copiara al dispositivo? Eso es lo que dice hacer Martian Lifeboat de Martian Technology:

all your purchased music. You try to keep good backups of these things
— but how often do you really run a backup? Wouldn't it be cool if the
simple act of plugging in one of your USB Flash Keys or Firewire Hard
Drives caused the backup to happen?

...A neat solution from your Martian friends

With Martian LifeBoat, you define sets of files and folders to be
backed up (we call these "LifeBoats"). Each LifeBoat is associated with
one removable media device — a particular USB Flash Key or external
Hard Drive. Each time the associated device is connected to your Mac,
Martian LifeBoat springs into action and starts backing up the
specified files and folders onto the device. Now, your device contains
a perfect mirror of your files.

If you're more into manual backing up, you can, of course, specify
that you'll request the update of a LifeBoat by hand each time you want
it done. In this case, you can use Martian LifeBoat to make a backup in

Es una idea interesante y atrayente... ¿no creen? Claro que se necesita un dispositivo externo listo para hacer backups y casi en exclusiva para eso... un concepto caro, muy Mac :)
